Key Insights

  • Static CRMs create duplicate effort: without real-time tags right on LinkedIn pages, sales reps and recruiters waste time clicking back and forth, or accidentally reach out to prospects a colleague is already nurturing.
  • Context stays attached everywhere: LinkMatch Profile Tags link directly to a person’s LinkedIn username or company URL, so they show up automatically across search results, feed posts, and profile pages.
  • Shared team visibility: set up team-wide tags so your entire sales or recruitment team sees who is “Nurturing,” “Hot Lead,” “Do Not Contact,” or “Interviewing” at a glance.

Most sales and recruitment pipelines don’t break down because of a lack of prospects. They break down because of a lack of instant context.

You’re scrolling through LinkedIn, spot a high-fit prospect, and wonder: Did Sarah already reach out to them last week? Is this target account on our “do not contact” list? Or are they waiting on a follow-up after a recent job change?

Usually, answering those questions requires opening three different tabs, checking your CRM or ATS, or interrupting a teammate on Slack.

To fix this, we introduced LinkMatch Profile Tags: a lightweight, super-fast way to color-code, label, and attach notes to LinkedIn people and company profiles without leaving your page.

What Are LinkMatch Profile Tags?

Profile Tags are visual labels that sit directly next to profiles on LinkedIn. When you’re viewing a profile, searching through leads, or browsing company pages, a small tag icon appears right beside your LinkMatch match indicator.

With a single click, you can attach a customized color pill to any person or company, giving you and your team instant visual context on where that relationship stands.

Key Feature Highlights

  • 7 vibrant colors: color-code by status, priority, or campaign.
  • People & company tags: separate tags specifically for individual profiles vs. company pages.
  • Personal vs. team scopes: keep private tags just for your workflow, or share team tags so everyone on your account sees the exact same labels.
  • Inline quick notes: add short notes directly onto any tag to capture key details (like “Prefers email over InMail” or “Budget approval pending Q3”).
  • Universal persistence: because tags attach to LinkedIn profile IDs, a tag placed on a profile follows that person or company wherever they appear on LinkedIn.

Why Profile Tags Are a Game-Changer for Sales Teams

For SDRs, Account Executives, and RevOps managers, prospecting efficiency depends on speed and coordination. Here’s how Profile Tags speed up your sales workflow:

1. Stop Overlapping Outreach in Target Accounts

If two reps are prospecting into the same enterprise account, accidental double outreach looks unprofessional. With Team Tags, Rep A can tag a prospect as 🔥 Active Deal or ⚠️ Nurturing. When Rep B views that same profile, the tag instantly signals to step back, saving time and preventing embarrassing overlap.

2. Micro-Segment Accounts at the Company Level

Tagging company pages with labels like Tier 1 Target, Existing Client, or Competitor Switch lets SDRs instantly know how to tailor their messaging before reaching out to decision-makers.

3. Quick-Context Nurturing with Notes

Need to remember why a prospect asked you to circle back in 3 months? Attach a quick note to a Follow Up Q4 tag. Next time you view their profile or see their post in your feed, hover over the pill to instantly view your note.

How Recruiters & Sourcers Can Leverage Profile Tags

For agency recruiters, talent acquisition specialists, and headhunters, managing candidate pipelines means tracking hundreds of touchpoints. Profile Tags give sourcers a visual edge:

1. Track Candidate Availability & Readiness

Instead of relying solely on ATS candidate stages, tag profiles on the fly as you source on LinkedIn:

  • 🟢 Ready for Call
  • 🟡 Salary High
  • 🔴 Silver Medalist (a great candidate from a prior requisition)

2. Coordinate Agency & In-House Sourcing

When multiple recruiters source on the same LinkedIn search results page, team-wide tags ensure everyone knows who has already been evaluated or pre-screened.

3. Keep Sourcing Notes Front and Center

Hovering over a candidate’s tag instantly surfaces notes like “Wants remote only” or “Relocating to NYC in August”, saving recruiters from re-reading long message histories before picking up the phone.

How to Tag Profiles in 3 Simple Steps

Profile Tags are available on all LinkMatch licenses (both Standard and Pro). There is no setup to do first: you can create your very first tag right from a LinkedIn profile, in seconds.

Step 1: Open the Tag Menu on a Profile

On any LinkedIn profile or company page, click the Tag icon next to the name. The tag menu opens right on the page and lists the tags you already have. Click one to apply it (a checkmark shows the tag that is currently applied).

Step 2: Create a New Tag on the Spot

Need a label that doesn’t exist yet? Create it in the same menu, without leaving the profile:

  • Name your tag: for example, Priority Lead or Ready for Call.
  • Pick a color: choose from 7 bright colors.
  • Choose the scope:
    • Personal keeps the tag for your eyes only.
    • Team shares it with everyone on your account. (Team tags require an active LinkMatch team setup.)

Click Create, and the new tag is applied and ready to reuse on every other profile. Person tags and company tags are kept separate, so the menu on a company page offers company tags.

Step 3: Add a Note and Save

Add an optional note (like “Prefers email over InMail”), then click Save. The colored pill now sits next to the person’s name, and your note is one hover away wherever that profile appears on LinkedIn. The menu also tells you who can see it: Only visible to you for personal tags.

To change a tag, open the menu again and pick another one. To rename, recolor, or delete tags, click Manage tags in the menu, or open the Profile Tags tab on your LinkMatch Options page, which is also the quickest way to set up a full list of team tags in one go.

Experience Frictionless LinkedIn Prospecting

Whether you’re managing complex B2B sales pipelines or high-volume candidate sourcing, keeping track of context shouldn’t require constant tab-switching.

With LinkMatch Profile Tags, you get instant visual clarity, seamless team collaboration, and cleaner CRM and ATS records, all straight from LinkedIn.
